Holistic Support

Successful Charity Day

On Friday, March 16th WIA distributed clothing, blankets, and toys to over three hundred orphans, vulnerable children, widows, people living with HIV/AIDS, and foster parents. WIA received a school bus that was shipped from Europe, which harboured the distributable goods.

Mrs. Mosha, (WIA's executive director), asserted in reaction to the event’s success that, "WIA's ambitious expectations for this important day were fully met. WIA was able to give over 300 people various goods as well as a festive reprieve from day to day life."

Mrs. Grace Masawe, the education officer of the Ngarenaro ward, presented the opening remarks at the charity day celebration and handed out clothes to the first woman, boy and girl. The 80 children from the WIA Neema Nursery School and the 43 children from Unity School performed enthusiastic songs and dances. Also in attendance were the Chairman of WIA Nursery School Board, Mr. Venance Marandu, and StarTV covering the event for their evening news. The Arusha Times (the widely read English weekly in Arusha), printed WIA’s press release for the event as well as our follow-up story which was picked up by a popular internet search engine for African news: http://allafrica.com/stories/200703260711.html

The items in the bus were gathered and donated by the people of Llanfairtechant and Penmaenmawr in North Wales. The bus was filled with many large bags filled with clothing, blankets, toys, and medical supplies, which benefited the women, children, and disabled people and their families that WIA supports. Twenty-five percent of the donated goods were held aside to be distributed in the upcoming month to additional orphans and foster parents that WIA supports in the Babati district.
