On Friday, March 27th the students of the Unity School took class trips to two of Tanzania’s national parks. The children from Class One went to Lake Manyara, while the students in Class Two went to the Ngorogoro Crater. WIA’s sponsorship program sends 43 graduates of the WIA Neema Nursery School to Unity School, a local English-medium primary school. WIA sponsors 25 children in Class One and 18 children in Class Two. These children are prioritized to receive sponsorship funds as they are the most vulnerable children and orphans that WIA supports.
Travelling by bus, the children, teachers, and WIA’s two international volunteers, Rachel Ruffman and Lara Green-Spector, reached the national parks without a problem. The children all had a fantastic time spotting giraffes, elephants, hippopotamuses, birds, baboons, and other wild life. Afterwards they happily stretched their legs a bit at the delicious picnic lunch.
